Mini-Masters (ages 6-9)
Mondays, 4-5:30 starting 1/9/2012 - 3/12/2012
$200 for members, and $230 for non members
Ages 6-9
This class will feature weekly projects geared around both old and new masters of the art world. Students will learn about Cubism with Picasso, Realism with Rembrandt and Impressionism with Van Gogh, just to name a few. A variety of materials will be used, including acrylics, oil pastels, ink, charcoal, chalk pastels, clay, and watercolor.

Artistic Creations (ages 9-12)
Wednesdays 4 - 5:30, 10 weeks starting 1/11/2012 - 3/14/2012
$200 for members, $230 for non members
Ages 9-12
This class provides and introduction to various art historical movements and eras throughout time. Learning about a variety of artists and being exposed to different media, ideas and techniques will encourage students to learn not only fundamental lessons, such as portraiture and still life drawing, but other expressionistic tools and styles such as pointillism, impressionism and more.

Seeing in Color!
Wednesdays 7-9:30, 10 weeks starting 1/11/2012 - 3/14/2012

Adult/Teen
Color! This class is for students who prefer to create in color. We will create with oil, acrylics, pastel, watercolor, colored pencils and any other medium you choose to bring to class. Selecting either a still life or a photograph, students will work on a subject that interests them while learning about different media. Students can use their preferred medium and learn to work with other media by watching instructor demonstrations each week. As they work on their chosen subject, students will understand how to achieve the correct color, value, texture and overall composition in a colored medium. Basics such as drawing and composition will also be demonstrated.

Drawing: Fine Tuning the Details
Thursdays 10 Weeks, 9:30- 12, starting 1/12/2012 - 3/15/2012

Adult/Teen
Using the fundamental and basic elements of drawing such as line, form, tone, light, shadow, and composition, students will feel comfortable exploring new drawing media and techniques while gaining a stronger understanding of the structure of a form before developing it with details. Subjects include still life, portraiture, perspective, metallic and transparent objects, and proportions.

Animal Portraiture
Thursdays 12:30-3 , starting 1/12/2012 - 3/15/2012

Adult
Come and learn how to capture the essence of your favorite furry friend. Demonstrations about the structure, texture and anatomy of animals will be given. The class will look at how to start a drawing loosely with gestures in charcoal and graphite, and then complete the image with more structured techniques. Students will be able to work in any medium they desire, as they receive individual attention. Request a materials list.

Fundamentals of Drawing & Painting (ages 11-13)
Thursdays 10 Weeks, 4-5:30, starting 1/12/2012 - 3/15/2012

Ages 11-13
This class welcomes all young students interested in learning about the fundamentals of drawing and painting. For the first half of class, drawing basics will be taught, while the second half focuses on an introduction to color theory and painterly techniques using acrylic paint. Drawing & Painting for Teens
Thursdays 10 Weeks, 6-8, starting 1/12/2012 - 3/15/2012

Teens
Students will build a solid foundation in the fundamentals of drawing and painting, with a particular emphasis on allowing students to develop their own style and promoting artistic individuality. Through demonstrations, observations and experimentations, students will be able to explore how to use color and shadow to create a still life, portrait and more. Request a materials list.

Drawing Beyond the Basics (ages 11-13)
10 weeks, Saturdays 10-11:30 starting 1/14/2012 - 3/17/2012
$200 for members, and $230 for non members
Ages 11-13 exceptions can be made
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of drawing and various techniques used in the drawing world. They will learn how to draw different types of fabric textures and patterns as well as metallic and glass objects. Students will explore graphite and charcoal powders, toned paper and conté pencil. Topics include perspective, angles, foreshortening and landscapes. Achieving likeness in portraits and self-portraits as well as figure gestures and proportions will also be addressed. Students will learn many new skills in a fun relaxed environment with step-by-step instruction and demonstration.

Painting Techniques (ages 11-13)
10 weeks, Saturdays 12-1:30 starting 1/14/2012 - 3/17/2012

In this class, students will learn the process of bringing a drawing through various painting stages to a completed masterpiece. Various painting and brush handling techniques will be introduced. Elements of light and shadow, tonal contrast, washes, glazes, color theory and composition will be covered. Demonstrations will be shown in class. This class is suitable for all levels. Portfolio Development
10 weeks, Saturdays 2-4 starting 1/14/2012 - 3/17/2012

Teens
Portfolio Development will teach students how to present and photograph art, as well as develop a strong and diverse portfolio. Discussions about particular schools, majors and outlets/jobs in the art field will be included. Students will also create fully rendered drawings in graphite and charcoal with texture and three-dimensionality. The class will instill a strong understanding of the anatomy, gestures and proportion, perspective and proper understanding of facial measurements. Request a materials list. No class 11/27

Morning Oil Painting 1
